Bowery Art Collective Purpose Statement

Bowery Art Collective is a 501 (c)3 not for profit organization serving as an artist incubator space dedicated to providing a primary market for high school and college students to display and sell their work. In addition to organizing group and solo shows at the main gallery on 335 Main St, Metuchen; the Collective is home to three professional-track programs that offer career development opportunities to a community of emerging artists, curators and educators:

Through the Emerging Curator Fellowship Program, students develop the administrative skills necessary to run a successful art exhibition from beginning to end, including creative direction, public relations, art handling and installation, and talent management. Along with the curatorial aspect, we also provide mentorship and professional practice workshops to develop the practical side of artmaking including documentation of artwork, resume development writing artist/curatorial statements and grant/residency/college applications assistance.

The Collective also serves as a platform for Student Art Contests, markets and auctions wherein cash prizes are awarded to the winners; moreover, all participants are afforded exposure and interaction with potential buyers and industry professionals through a highly promoted group show.

The Therapeutic Art Workshop Fellowship is a leadership program that promotes curriculum development and public speaking readiness in aspiring art educators and therapists. In planning and teaching workshops to an audience of novice artists, students refine the communication skills necessary to lead a class that is dynamic, engaging, and impactful.

Bowery Art Collective does not expect to generate any profit from its activities. All revenues generated from fundraising events, donations, grants, and sales of artworks will be used to support the business operating activities and the artist incubator programs.

The Bowery Art Collective board of trustees consists of educators, professional artists, community stakeholders, and creative professionals.
